Cafe Volunteer

Do you enjoy meeting new people or would like to gain catering experience? We are looking for volunteers to help run our popular and friendly café in our visitor centre.

As part of our café team you will help to ensure that visitors have an enjoyable and safe visit. When people visit our cafes, we want them to have a warm welcome, get served quickly and enjoy their food and drinks in relaxing and clean surroundings. All this work requires a team of friendly and supportive people to help out. We wouldn't be able to run our cafe without volunteers.

As part of our café team you will be serving customers hot and cold drinks, clearing tables, talking to customers about our food and drink options, maintaining cleanliness standards and health and safety codes of practice. You will be helping visitors and answering questions.

Café team volunteers volunteer on a rota to cover the needs of the site, this could be from a few hours a month.

As part of your role you will learn new skills and gain experience working in the hospitality industry, including great transferable skills, such as customer service, barista skills and following health and safety protocols. The money raised through our cafe contributes to our activities at the mill, so you are also helping to keep our community groups and programmes running!

This role is also suitable for volunteers under 18 years of age.
